Artist: Agness Twin

CD: "Waiting for My Ghost"

Label: Self Released

--

Agness Twin is the brain-child of one Lady E who wrote all the material found on "Wating for my Ghost" as well as handling the singing/guitar playing/synth administrating duties.

What the Lady presents is a collection of noir-tinged songs based in the dirgey, slightly droney-rock whose heritage can be traced backed to greats like PJ Harvey and Tanya Donelly. The rock element is by turns driving and hypnotic. To this she adds the cello work of Joyce Rooks and the occasional piano bits curtesy of the great Vinsantos which gives the album a wonderfully sepiachord edge.

The end result are songs that swing smoothly from driving rock to off-kilter numbers that are like the evil flip-side of pop. Lady E is sometimes brash, sometimes coaxing, but always remarkably seductive. I would happily spend more time in Lady E's world.

This one's a keeper.
