On "Bison Rouge", Ashia Grzesik sings and plays cello, and does so beautifully.
By careful incorporation of a handful of other musicians she builds songs that harken back to old-world baroque (with hints of opera) but are infused with a modern, joyous eclecticism.
There is an urgency here (most pronounced on "Broken Crowns") that adds a powerful dose of sensuality to the mix without ever compromising Ashia's lady-like demeanor.
The five songs on this EP exude a comforting warmth, making this a collection that you call pull around yourself and find the welcoming embrace of sweet memories. "Bison Rouge" comes from a place where "wistful" is not a dirty word.
Recommended, "Bison Rouge" is perfect playing for any post-modern parlour (despite its frustrating brevity).
