Saturday Night Concert

RasputinaRasputina

Rasputina is a cello-driven band based in New York that is renowned for their unconventional and quirky music style as well as their fascination with historical allegories and fashion, especially those pertaining to the Victorian era.

The group is fronted by cellist/vocalist Melora Creager, who also writes all of the lyrics and creates art for the band’s albums, singles, and website.  Daniel DeJesus, cellist and vocalist extraordinaire and Dawn Miceli, celebrity podcaster in her own right, percussion/singer complete the ensemble.

NathanNathaniel Johnstone Band

The Nathaniel Johnstone Band hails from Seattle, WA, lead by multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Johnstone (violin, viola, banjo, mandolin, and guitar) along with Jean-Paul Mayden (bass), Jes Brown (drums & percussion), Mel (vocals), and Libby Bulloff (iPhone, eclectic percussion).  Their vibrant sound crosses boundaries and borders, resulting in a blend of European, Middle Eastern, and South American music with Jazz, Rock, Surf, Folk, Gothic, and Steampunk influences.

Eric Stern

Emerging from the emerald twilight of Portland Oregon, sepiatonic troubadour Eric Stern, the Northwest’s own premiere operatic tenor, accordionist, pianist, composer and consummate showman, is your Master of Ceremonies for this year’s Steamcon. Founder and leader of Vagabond Opera (last year’s winner of the Airship aural category award), he continues his alchemical and absinthe-tinged forays into the wee hours of the morning, on steamships, and in exotic ports of call, in London alleyways and Marseille brothels, to concoct Steampunk Cabaret.

Eric Stern has appeared on NPR and performed at the Kennedy Center, The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, Joe’s Pub in NYC, , throughout the Northwest, and internationally from Portland to Paris to Poland. Stern has appeared with Balkan BeatBox, Jason Webley, The Decemberists, Devotchka, Unwoman, and many others. His latest Steampunk album, Stern Little Stories, is available at Steamcon IV.
