Hailing from Sydney (Australia) Muzza Monroe and The Lushous Strings create a rural-tinged low rock by coupling guitar (or piano or organ) with strange, frequently insistent, strings. To this they add Muzza's dusty throat vocals (half spoken, half sung and all threat).
The end result isn't comforting and pretty. It's like having a Nick Cave song whispered to you by a man holding a straight razor, but minus the bombast. "In Your Hand" seems to be all about the horrors of restraint.
This isn't uplifting music, but anyone who's ever had a dark, dark thought should find some echoes of their feelings on this collection.
