t's been a bit of a while since we've heard from Nathan Wade and the Dark Pioneers. Unlike a lot of old friends time has been kind to this Seattle performer and his crew.
"The Gospel of Rust" is a stunner and the best release from this "post-apocalypse americana" slinger.
Wade weaves noir electric country rock that isn't afraid to explore but manages to keep it's boots clearly in country. Like a beautifully jagged wound the songs on "The Gospel of Rust" are edged with catchy hooks but none of them ever degenerate into over-polished Nashville nonsense.
And the album kicks off with "Gotta Get Right", a balls-out armageddon gospel-rave up that doesn't take the devil's side. A winner.
