In a recent review* i mused on the fact that the world may need more psychedelic pop and less stoner rock. My last review** was of Sunday Driver and that band seemed to be pointing in the right direction...
Patrick & Eugene are have already found their fun, 60s-influenced pop voice. On their third album (the first being released domestically here in the States) the duo mix wonderful harmonies with old-time jazz/British musichall elements and modern dance rhythms (there's also old school dance bits like the Specials-influenced "Saturday Night") into an upbeat sound that has a glorious Beatles-esque bounce.
On "Altogther Now" the boys effortlessly prove that you don't have to be obsessed with the dark side of life to make good art and great music. The numbers Patrick & Eugene present are sure to make you smile and bob your head with delight. And if you've been hoping for a band in the vein of The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, dream no more, just pick up this CD.
