Bakelite 78 crowdfunds new EP~

Bakelite 78 is running an IndieGoGo to fund their new EP: 5 Hits From Heck
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fund-bakelite-78-pr-campaign-ep-record-pressing#/

“Bakelite 78 has finished a stunning five song EP called “5 Hits From Heck” and is gearing up for an amazing Record Release Party at The Tractor Tavern on November 25th, 2016! We really need your help to put all of our ducks in a row. Funding is desperately needed for the costly publicity campaign and mass mailings that will get this music the exposure it truly deserves! Get rare Bakelite 78 art prints and a limited 45 r.p.m. vinyl copy of the EP with silk screened cover by Jason Frederick!”

Short Summary

Gothic-Americana powerhouse Bakelite 78 has a repertoire that is an eclectic mix of swing, dixieland, blues, jass, proto-country, klezmer and cabaret, as well as a plethora of originals in hybrids of these styles.  They have wowed audiences from Chicago to Seattle, and put out three full length albums to date.  Founding member Robert Rial invites you to take part in the next chapter for Bakelite 78, a stunning new 5 song collection, 5 Hits From Heck, available in compact disc and download formats as well as limited quantities on 12″ 45 r.p.m. vinyl record, with hand silk screened covers by legendary silk screener & illustrator Jason Frederick!  Share in the legacy of fine art that has been produced for past Bakelite 78 showbills and promo materials via our variety of perks!

Producing an album D.I.Y. is not cheap, and even after we’ve already paid for recording, mixing, mastering and replication, we are still trying to pay some of the various costs associated with such an endeavor, including merchandising, a typically expensive ($6000.00) three month publicity campaign, and if any is left over, we can always use more guitar cords, cymbals, and trumpet valve oil. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help us meet our goal.
THE PERKS
We are very excited to be offering as perks for this campaign, different numbered 2011 Bakelite 78 showbills from artist Jeffrey Rial, and a very limited amount of numbered copies of a 2008 Jared Metzner Delta Disc CD Release Show showbills (Black Bear Combo and Jimbo Mathus fans, heads up!).  These art pieces are in the more expensive price range, but we are still offering in addition to that, 5 Hits From Heck t-shirts, 5 Hits From Heck CDs, vinyl EPs, and 5 Hits From Heck CD Release Party posters at the lower tiers.  And ALL of you will receive a 5 Hits From Heck lapel pin, just because.

It’s okay if you just cannot even afford to buy a CD or a download today!  You can still help Bakelite 78 achieve their goal!

April 22~ The Bad Things, Bakelite 78 & Mongrel Jews- Tukwila

Friday April 22nd, Seattle WA: The Bad Things, Bakelite 78 & Mongrel Jews

https://www.facebook.com/events/234408100229985/

Lucky Liquor

10325 E Marginal Way S, Seattle, Washington 98168

In the 14 years of The Bad Things existence, the band has played a variety of venues; from swanky cabarets and concert halls, to music festivals, breweries, schoolhouses, underground speakeasy’s and punk rock dive bars.

The latter has always been the true spiritual home of the band however. The character’s that inhabit their songs are daily drinkers that spend their last pennies at working class bars in an effort to black out the work week. The band’s first shows were at places like the 9LB Hammer, at the time a sole outpost of underground culture in a neighborhood that Seattle forgot.

Boy have times changed.

Georgetown has become a hipster mecca and true dives are becoming harder and harder to find. This in a city that once boasted some of the dingiest shit holes known to man. A port town whose central business district was once dominated by strip bars, porn and gun shops, prostitutes and hustlers. Now you’d be hard pressed to find a dive bar not filled with ironic moustaches, tweed jackets and trust funders drinking PBR and Old Crow in an attempt to mimic authentic working class culture.

That’s why this show at Lucky Liquor, a punk rock dive bar if there ever was one, feels special. Located on the far south end of Boeing Field, on the shores of the Duwamish, one of the most polluted waterways in the United States, this feels like a homecoming of sorts. A return to the real south end, yet to be compromised by gentrification and hipster entrepreneurs, to gritty old Seattle, the true spiritual home of the Bad Things universe.

It’s made even better as they’ll be joined by fellow purveyors of Northwest vintage grit: Bakelite 78 and The Mongrel Jews.

Come celebrate Friday night and bask in an irony-free haven for the real working class. This will be the real deal my friends.
